If a person has a white coating on their tongue, it is likely that they have bad breath.

Of course, no one wants bad breath, and everyone is eager to get rid of it. Regular dental hygiene including brushing and flossing is the best way to prevent bad breath. It is important not to forget to brush the tongue as well. Individuals who wear dentures should see to it that they are clean and that they fit properly. Avoiding excesses in alcohol and completely avoiding the use of tobacco products will drastically minimize the occurrence of bad breath.
Proper hydration is also key to reducing bad breath. If an individual constantly has a dry mouth, they should drink water and do things like suck on candy or chew gum in order to produce saliva and keep the mouth and breath fresh. If a person has bad breath because of an illness, it will need to be treated and the bad breath should disappear.
